June 16th, 2015 Wedding IDEAS, INSPIRATION AND INSIDER TIPS
Shopping for your bridesmaids dresses can be a bit overwhelming. Not only do you as the bride, have to like the dress but you also want it to go with the theme of the wedding and for your bridesmaids to feel comfortable. Even though the process can be a bit of a challenge, here are a few things to take into consideration to make the most out of the experience!
Tip #1: Think of your Bridal Gown
It's very important that when choosing bridesmaids dresses you consider your own dress first. After all, your bridesmaids will be right by your side for much of the night. Their dresses should accent yours in a flattering way and tie the bridal party look together. For example if your gown is bohemian inspired try not to clash glamorous bridesmaids dresses.
Tip #2: Bridesmaid's Opinions
Depending on the size of your bridal party this might turn out to be a bigger task than it sounds. You want to be open to different opinions, but you still want the bridesmaids to look the way you envision them to. We suggest, after you have chosen the color palette and theme, have each bridesmaid send you a list of preferences in the style of gown they would want to wear. These preferences can consist of long or short dresses, strapless or straps, etc. Make sure with this list they send a few sample photos as well.
Tip #3: Provide Variety
The new thing to do is not have all your bridesmaid's be completely in unison. This actually makes it easier to choose a dress for each bridesmaid because they can vary from girl to girl. For example, you can have completely different dresses but all the same shade. Or you could even have different shades of one color along with different lengths and necklines. Traditional is out and modern is in, so be creative!
Tip #4: Budget
The pricing for bridesmaids dresses can get a little tricky because not everyone may have the same budget. However, one way to meet in the middle is for you to cover the cost partially or fully for each bridesmaid. If you choose to do this, make sure you budget for it in your wedding plans!
Tip #5: Appreciate Your Bridesmaids
Yes, even though it is your big day, it's important to take time to show your bridal party how much you appreciate their participation in your wedding. These ladies most likely took time out of their busy schedules to make you feel special so why not return the favor? You can make this step completely unique! Some ideas are a girls day out with mani/pedis, a mimosa brunch, or even gifts the day of! Feel free to be creative and have fun with it.
