Real Brides: Rachel

Micheal & I met back in August of 2014 in our Dental Assisting class. I was a junior in Highschool, and he was a Senior. From the moment we met, there was just a click that happened between us that always brought us back together. We officially began dating December 13th of 2014. As months went on, we started realizing that we definitely wanted to stay together, and that there was no one else in the world that either of us wanted to be with. We moved in together in Spring of 2016, and then got engaged in Summer of 2018. We had a 2 year long engagement, before we tied the knot in the Fall on October 3rd of 2020. Notice how everything happens in 2 year increments? I couldn’t ask for a better person to be my husband. He’s truly my other half. One day, I had an appointment to go dress shopping. I decided to only take my Mother with me, because her opinion was the only one that mattered to me other than my own. We walked in, talked about budget, and style. We pulled dresses, hung them up, and our lovely dress consultant brought back this gown. I fell in love instantly. I hadn’t tried on ANY dresses yet. I kept gazing in awe by this dress. Mom said of course that I had to try on multiple dresses, to save this one for last. Each dress I tried on, wasn’t meeting the standards of the particular dress. I wasn’t happy. I was getting frustrated. I think I only tried on 5 dresses before I was finally able to try this one on. The time came, slipped into the dress, and immediately I knew that was it. I was done. I didn’t want to get out of it. I knew I didn’t want a dress that had any bling or embellishments, but one that had lace. I wanted to showcase my late grandmothers pearl necklaces, that were passed down to me at a young age. This dress was able to achieve that. It fit so perfectly, that only minimal alterations were needed, and we only added a bustle. This dress made me be the Princess that every girl dreams of for their wedding day. Everything was a Fairytale. Photos by: Craig Acheson from Captured Memories by Craig
