Real Brides: Milena

Lucas and I went to the same school for years but only became close during our final year of high school. We started texting all the time and shared our first kiss in August 2012. A month later, during our senior trip, we realized we didn’t want to be apart and officially started dating.

We were together for six years. During that time, I studied in Los Angeles and later worked at Disney in Orlando—twice. Eventually, our lives took different paths, and we separated in 2018.

Even though we were apart for two and a half years, we never fully lost touch. In 2020, we reconnected and realized our story wasn’t over. We got back together in September 2020.

Although we still live in Brazil, Lucas proposed to me in August 2023 at the Four Seasons in Orlando. I chose my wedding dress in Orlando in July 2024 and returned with my mom in October to pick it up. The truth is, I didn’t know this was the dress — my wedding dress. I felt it. The moment I put it on, it was like truly seeing myself — as if the dress had chosen me, too. It was me, completely.

We got married on February 1, 2025.
