Real Brides: Jennifer

In October 2019, two of my co-workers were on the board of a Detroit-area networking group hosting an event that they insisted that I attend with them. I came up with every reason not to go (it was the middle of the week; I had too much work to do; I didn’t want to drive to the city by myself; etc.), but they found a solution to every one of my excuses. So whether I liked it or not, I had no choice but to go.  When I arrived, my co-workers started introducing me to various people they knew, and eventually they dragged over a tall, handsome, blue-eyed gentleman named Kurt. We started talking about work and made conversation for a few minutes before he eventually returned to his colleagues. After the event, Kurt came back to our table and said goodbye, and I assumed I would never see him again.  The next day, Kurt reached out to my coworker on LinkedIn, asked if I was single and if so, would she mind passing along his number to me. She eagerly responded to him: SHE’S SINGLE, CALL HER NOW. We later found out that my coworker had met Kurt prior to the event and had been planning for several weeks to have us meet each other, because she somehow knew we would be a great match! Kurt immediately reached out to me and asked me to dinner, and by date #3 I knew he was The One. A few months later we moved in together, got a puppy named Oliver, and the rest is history!
I have always known since I was a young girl that I wanted a dress with a full skirt, beautiful train, and definitely a little sparkle! After almost a dozen bridal gown appointments and still no dress, I was starting to feel frustrated with my shopping process. I finally made an appointment at a bridal shop called A’doraBelle that had great reviews and designers that I hadn’t tried yet. When I arrived there with my mom and my future mother-in-law, I saw a framed poster on the wall of a model wearing a beautiful flowing gown with lace flower appliques and gorgeous layers in the skirt. After trying on a few dresses that I knew weren’t for me, I asked if they had the dress that I saw in the poster. Lucky for me, they did! I tried on the dress and my mother and future mother-in-law both had tears in their eyes. I knew this was The Dress! I was even able to customize it with an extra layer of sparkle under the skirt and modified it with a true sweetheart neckline. My husband was completely speechless when he saw me in the dress on our wedding day. Our ceremony coordinator even told me as I was about to walk down the aisle that it was the most beautiful gown she had seen in a very long time – and she sees them often! It was absolutely perfect.
