Real Brides: Emely

It all started back in 2009 when I was so excited about getting a new cell phone, I posted my number on social media and got a text from a stranger at the time. The text read "you know, you shouldn't post your number out like that because there's a lot of creeps out there" and in return I replied "like you?" which started a daily conversation that would last months until we finally met in person. The first time we met in person was so exciting because we became attracted to each other's personalities from talking all the time, seeing each other physically was extra special. However, we just hung out that day and ended up being the best of friends, even though we felt something for each other! It became watching him play softball on a local team in the summer, sneaking out to grab some McDonalds and eating it on the roof of his car, and dating other people but having his shoulder to cry on for 6 years. Until realizing that every path always led me back to him and vice versa plus the feelings we felt were inevitable, he asked me to finally give him a chance and I'm so glad I did! We dated for 4 years, and while I was on a business trip in Texas, Nathan was back home planning something incredible. The entire week I was gone, he met with my family and asked my father to marry me which was important to me for him to do, and when I got back home we celebrated my birthday by going out to dinner at a really great steakhouse that my dad helped him get reservations for because it's a popular spot, and when they brought dessert there was a small box next to it. When I opened it, there was a heart shaped charm to add to my charm bracelet that Nathan bought me the year before with a charm that read "love you more" but this charm had the words "Marry Me" engraved in it and my heart stopped in a good way of course! When I looked up he was holding the box with the ring and I couldn't believe it, I even said "really, are you serious?!" and then said yes! We were engaged for about a year and we really soaked it in with the extra time we got from the pandemic happening because we originally had set our date to April 30th of 2020 but moved our wedding to July 24th instead with our very close loved ones and friends. It couldn't have been more perfect and intimate! Dress shopping was such a special experience, I made an appointment at my local bridal shop, All About The Gown while they were having a sample sale. I went in with an open mind and picked out a variety of styles to try on, after a couple dresses I tried on a mermaid style silhouette with long sleeves that had lace beaded details and a jaw dropping backless cut, which I loved but then the last dress I tried on fit me like a glove and was so pretty! It had so much detail with a floral pattern on the lace and different textures with the beading and plunging v neck! I didn't want to take the dress off, I loved it as much as I loved the other. Both dresses represented me in every way and were total opposites so I knew they were the "ones" that with the help of everyone working there that day gave me the confidence to buy two wedding dresses! I wore the first dress for the ceremony and changed into my Moonlight Couture dress when they announced us as Mr. and Mrs.! Photography by Artistique Photography
