Real Brides: Stacia

Cameron and I went to the same high school, but we are one year apart, me being younger. I had been hanging out with a boy named Jacob, who was also Cameron’s good friend, every now and then but nothing serious. One night I was invited by Jacob to come hangout with him and a friend of his who happen to be Cameron. So I brought my twin sister along with me as a double date. When we got there, I assumed I would be hanging out with Jacob and my sister would be with Cameron. I soon found out that was NOT the case. It turns out that Cameron and Jacob had planned this all along because Cameron wanted to meet me. We hung out for a while that night but we didn’t exchange numbers or make any future plans. The next day, I went to a birthday party for my sister’s friend. I didn’t know him and really didn’t want to go, but my mom said that I had to go with my sister, so I did. I showed up and Cameron is the first person I see. Turns out, this friend is on the golf team with Cameron at our high school. I mingled with a group of people I knew when Cameron came out of nowhere, grabbed me by the hand, and lead me off to another part of the party. We hung out all night long and just before I left he asked me if he could use my phone. When I handed it to him, he texted himself from my phone so that he would have my number and knew for sure that I had his (smart boy). We continued to text back and forth, saw each other at school and developed a great base for our relationship. We became the best of friends and hung out all the time with a group of his friends that I soon adopted to be my own. I only grew more and more attached to him! Now after nearly eight years of knowing him and just as long dating him, (and three wedding dates because COVID-19 cancelled our wedding twice) we are finally married. We just closed on our first home together and have enjoyed growing older together and changing with one another. We truly couldn’t be happier and we can’t wait to grow together even more! I live in St. George, Utah. I looked in town but the options are very limited. I really didn’t have an exact style in mind, I just knew that I wanted something that wasn’t perfectly white. I love the tan and nude tones in wedding dresses, especially since I’m in the desert! So I made a girls trip to Las Vegas, Nevada and planned on stopping at a few dress stores there. When we got to the first store, I tried on a few gowns that I didn’t love. I decided that I would try on fitted gowns, even though I was a little skeptical about them. This dress was the fourth dress I tried on and as soon as I came out and looked at it, I knew it was the one. It almost fit me perfectly except that the top was a little big for me. I loved the lace detailing and how it was able to show off my back without completely exposing it. It was comfy and light weight and the perfect color to compliment the red rocks that St. George is known for. I am so happy with this dress and know that I will always love it. It is classy and beautiful and perfect for me. It made our day that much more special! And it will always have a special place in my heart.
